Week 1 on GAPS Intro – Where Are All the Spoons?

Oh, that’s right, I’m on the GAPS Intro diet, which myself and others lovingly call the Soup Diet.  I’m also low on bowls, too, even though I try to use them at least twice before I put them in the dishwasher.  😉 It has been a very interesting week, to say the least.  My learning curve went way up because I have very little experience making soup.  My family doesn’t care much for soup or stew so I’ve only made it a few times in 20+ years.  But I learned rather quickly how easy making soup can be!  Soften some … Continue reading

Butternut Squash Soup with Tarragon (GAPS Legal)

I love fresh tarragon and can’t seem to get enough of it!  Since I’ll be going on the GAPS Intro diet next week, I wanted to make a creamed soup with tarragon that I could eat either hot or cold.  This is it!  I could eat this all day, and it is super easy to make!!! For those of you on the GAPS Intro diet, this is a stage two recipe.  To make it a stage one recipe, remove the ghee, tarragon and cinnamon. Butternut Squash Soup with Tarragon 1 Tbsp             Ghee ¼ cup              Chopped yellow onions ½ … Continue reading

Easy Soy-Free Soy Sauce 4 tsp        Lemon juice or balsamic vinegar* 1 ½ c       Homemade beef broth 2 t            Honey ¼ t           Ginger Pinch       Garlic powder Pinch       White pepper Bring all ingredients to a boil.  Lower heat and simmer until reduced by ½, … Continue reading

Tongue-Tingling Spice Cake

I have been on the GAPS diet for just over a year, and my daughter has been on the Specific-Carbohydrate diet for just under a year.  Our family was having an open house for her college graduation, and I had to plan a few treats for our guests that both of us could eat.  One of our favorites, was my twist on a recipe in the GAPS cookbook, Internal Bliss.  I hope you enjoy this savory, warming, comfort food that tingles on your tongue. Tongue-Tingling Spice Cake 2 ½ cups        Sunflower seeds, soaked for 2 hours and wet 2 Tbsp            … Continue reading
